Dr. Ekkehard Nolting has been practicing law since 1988 and was a partner at the commercial law firm Bappert Witz & Selbherr in Freiburg for 19 years and later – following a merger in 2002 – a partner in the national law firm Graf von Westphalen. Since 2010, he is a partner of Battke Grünberg Attorneys at Law Partnership. He completed his law studies and basic studies of business in Göttingen, Lausanne (Switzerland) and Freiburg. Following his clerkship in Constance with several months spent overseas in a law firm in Berkeley, California, he was initially employed as a research assistant by the Chair for international commercial law at the University of Cologne (Prof. Karl-Heinz Böckstiegel) He wrote his dissertation with Professor Hopt in Tübingen on the topic of international contract law.
Since 1991, Dr. Ekkehard Nolting has been living in Dresden, where he established and supervised a branch office of a regional law firm. His fields of specialisation are corporate and trade law, international commercial law and also – as a trial lawyer – arbitration.
He has been participating in specialist attorney and advanced training courses on corporate law at the German Legal Academy (Deutschen Anwaltsakademie) for many years and is the author of numerous professional publicatons. Dr. Ekkehard Nolting has also always been involved in professional policies, initially for eight years as vice-president of the Bar Association in Saxony, and meanwhile as the presiding judge at the Saxon Lawyer’s Court (Anwaltsgerichtshof). He speaks English and French and deepened his language skills during stays abroad in Lausanne (Studies) and San Francisco (employment in an American law firm during his clerkship). He is also a member of the Corporate Lawyers Association, the German Institution of Arbitration and the Union Internationale des Avocats (International Union of Lawyers), the oldest international lawyers association, where he is a member of the German Committee, as well as the working groups for corporate law and international legal services in the German Bar Association.
